Day 2 - Gant Camping Adventure

Day 2 was filled with lots of activities! Although most woke with a terrible, COLD night of sleep, we were pretty optimistic. The nighttime temp got down inthe mid 30's Brrrrr..... and the dampness from being out in the rain the night before didn't help too much either. The scheduled forecast for the day was Sunny and mid 60's - Perfect!

Morning started off with a nice campfire, hot cocoa and coffee and Larry and Nicky's wonderful Breakfast Burritos and muffins for breakfast! All while bundled in our winter weather gear :-)

Bathrooms were just short walk away (Ok- so it wasn't true camping since we had bathrooms!) After warming up by the campfire, eating our breakfast and changing the damp clothes it was time to get the day started! We hung out around camp most of the morning - throwing a football, coloring, etc. While the kids were off going to the bathroom and getting ready, Keegan, Bryon and I managed to get into the woods and shoot the pellot gun that one of Keegan's co-workers let him borrow. (I think the guys got a good laugh at me trying to shoot the gun!) Then we headed off for our family hike down to the lake. The trees couldn't have been more beautiful and the weather was just perfect. It is too bad that the long hiking trails were pretty much closed to archery.... we could have gone in, but decided that we would rather not risk getting shot at! The hike to the beach by the lake was just long enough.

After some nice photo opportunities :-) We hiked back to the campsite and had lunch, prepared by mom! Deli Sanwiches and snacks. The kids had fun just playing in the woods and we also got out the blongo balls and bean bag toss. Keegan and Alex tossed the football around and somehow managed to get it up in a tree..... so Keegan climbed in to get it out!

After the lunch digested, we headed back down to the lake area to set off the Rockets that Keegan and I spent so much time on! We all did the countdown for each launch and I think everyone enjoyed the rockets. The first rocket ended up across the street, but we were able to recover it. All the other launches were successful and no damage was done to the rockets! Keegan even let Alex and Elizabeth launch a couple! :-) After a nice drive around the lake we headed back to campsite.
Dinner was in the makings... Gail's Taco Soup! Just right for a cool camping evening. While the soup was on, Bryon and Gail were packing up. They decided one night on the cool, hard ground was enough for them. Jaymi was also preparing her and the kids sleeping area in her minivan!

For the rest of the evening the kids played in the trees and we hung out around the campfire. Played a little Catch Phrase, made smores and that was our packed camping day. (Link coming soon to view all camping photos!)
