17 Months

Almost a year and a half old. C-R-A-Z-Y. I missed the 16 month update since we were at home for Christmas, so we'll see if I can keep on everything new going on. Don't forget to click on the link at the bottom of the page to hear Lance giggle. WARNING: it's contagious!



At 17 months you:

1. Know what you want, and get very upset when either you can't communicate it, or just don't get what you want. Developing quite your own little personality!
2. Would prefer to eat peanut butter for EVERY meal and snack. I have tried making meals that day-care says you love and eat seconds of every week, and you push them away at home, most of the time. But we'll keep trying! All depends on your mood. Grilled Cheese was a huge hit when you helped me make it this week, then this weekend you wanted nothing to do with it when we went out to eat. Yesterday you refused chicken noodles, tonight you gobbled them up. You do love most breakfast foods (excluding eggs) We had cinnamon rolls this weekend, and if we would have let you, I think you might have eaten the entire pan! Here you are shoving the cinnamon roll in your mouth. ***Side note, we thought you might be left handed, but you are starting to use your right hand more often, so time will tell***


3. Have an ear infection - yep, even with the tubes. Nasty draining gunk and the ear drops weren't clearing it up. To the Dr. we went this weekend and she couldn't even see down in the ear because it was so clogged and infected.
4. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to watch your farm animals Einstein video. This is the one thing that can buy Mom or Dad about 20 minutes to get lunch or dinner ready or wash dishes. You laugh and sing and sometimes just chill. It is the only thing that holds your attention for that amount of time.


5. Still love school buses like crazy! Doo Duss ALL the time. In the car, when you wake up....
6. Have a new favorite book by Dr. Seuss (starting this weekend after our trip to the bookstore) GO DOG, GO! And you say it so cute whilte pointing your fingers.
7. Are still a very good sleeper. To bed by 7pm - and sleep until 7am, this morning until 8:15 (Thank You!) Nap for about an hour and a half to 2 and a half hours each day.(11:30-2)
8. Think that bubbles are the greatest thing ever. Since we can't do bubbles outside in the cold, we do bubbles in the bathtub when you take a bath. And now, we even do bubbles in the bathroom when it isn't bath time. You love to "pop, pop, pop" the bubbles.
9. Think it is fun to give a "kiss kiss"
10. Words you say, that may not sound exactly like the word, but getting close (some may also be repeats from before, just trying to get them all): Thank You, Hi, Bye Bye (ba byes, with an "s"), up, down, go, stop (tah), please(deez), no, yes (yah), more, pop (as in pop bubbles- pa), cooper, daisy, grandpa (papa), grandma, mama, dada, love you (that one just started this weekend), uh-oh, oh-no, whoa, all done, jump, school bus, car, tractor, combine, bubbles, truck, dog, ball, nose, mouth, water (wawa), milk, juice, cheese (you also say this when we get the camera out sometimes), banana (nana), peanut butter (which sounds nothing like peanut butter but is an exact word for peanut butter)
11. I made a family and friends book for you and you love to read it - and are trying really hard to say some of your cousins names. You go back to the page with Josh and Dylan over and over again, and are trying to say their names so hard.
12. Your favorite song to sing right now (which I learned from your day-care, Thank you Miss Anna for sending home the words) is: One elephant went out to play, on a spiders web one day. He had such enormous fun that he called for another elephant to come... "Oh Elephant!" (Then we slap our hands on our legs and make a elephant noise).... Two elephants.... This was a life saver at the Dr. office when we waited for an hour and half to see the Dr! We sang it over and over and over again, until you learned how to open the door to the hallway :-)
13. Do not like Mom and Dad to leave the room. You do ok when I drop you off at day-care, but anywhere else, do not like to see us leaving. A little separation anxiety. And you are WAY more into your Daddy than your Mommy right now.
14. Like to bounce balls - especially our big exercise ball.
15. Are getting more into puzzles. We call it activity time like at school and you think that is fun for about , maybe 5 minutes.
16. Have fun being chased and chasing us. Your little laugh is so contagious.
17. Like to read books while you sit on the potty. You prefer to not be laid down to change diaper and clothes, so we do very little of that! I am getting better at putting the diaper on while you are standing. But when you are "stinky" no standing up.
18. Can point to your: nose, eyes, ears, mouth, hands, head, feet, hands, belly, legs... and like to point at Mom and Dad's facial features too.
19. Makes lots of animal noises and noises
20. Love to be loved! You are such a happy guy. You laugh and giggle at so many small things and it brings a smile to our face every day.
