11 Months Old

T - minus 1 month..... and you will be 1 ONE year old! Each day brings more and more fun and more smiles. :-) You are an incredibly happy baby and we feel so blessed and lucky. This has been a busy month - you have grown and learned so much! Here it goes.....

At 11 months you are:
  • "Cruising" so the magazines and books call it. Walking from one piece of furniture to another, or walking holding onto our hands. And LOVE to walk with your walker type toys!
  • Took your first step without assistance at day-care just yesterday. We have yet to witness it.
  • You are a speed crawler :-) And you love to crawl away quickly from the dogs.
  • do NOT like your clothes and diaper being changed. You think it is funny to flip like a fish while we try to change you. And it is SO hard not to smile at you when you giggle and think it is funny. I am sure we will soon get over that.
  • When we tell you "no thank you" whether you are getting into the dogs water bowl or putting something in your mouth that you aren't supposed to, you shake your head back and forth "no" The other day you even went up to the dog bowl and before you dipped your hand in and I could say anything, you started shaking your head - you KNOW what NO means :-) Once again, it is so fun and cute and so instead of us staying firm, we smile at how cute your head shake is :-) It won't be cute forever.
  • Still LOVE to read books. You can sit for 15-20 minutes just flipping pages and jibber jabbering. When we read the animal book and get to cow - we say "moo" and you repeat with "mmmm" And when we get to the monkey and say "ooooh ooohh aaaahh aaahhh" you repeat with "ah" And when we get to the last page, the bee and we "bzzzzzz" you try really hard and come up with blowing your lips together and spitting. Your word for book is "ma" But you say it every time you see a book. When we tell you to bring us a book, you bring it right over and say "ma"
  • Your first word was clearly doggy. It sounds more like "dawee" in a high pitched voice. But you say it every time you see Cooper and Daisy. You love your brother and sister!
  • Like to help Mommy with the laundry - well, watching the laundry anyway!
  • You will play with your sippy cup, and drink a little, but prefer to drink from a cup without a lid, like Mom and Dad.
  • Are just about done with all of your "jar" baby foods. You are eating what Mom and Dad eat most of the time. The other night we made chicken and vegetable stir fry and you ate all the veggies, pineapple, rice and chicken.
  • Had your 9th double ear infection - ICK! Tube surgery is scheduled for August 20th. Right before your 1st birthday.
  • Still sleep like a champ! Day-care was trying to move you to 1 nap a day and you just aren't ready for it! You take 1 morning nap - about 45 minutes to an hour. And one afternoon nap - sometimes 45 minutes and sometimes 2 1/2 hours. Usually the long ones are at home, not daycare. you go down for bed about 7-7:30 (no fussing, which I am going to knock on wood) and wake up between 6:45 and 7. Smiling and talking :-)
  • Like to watch Mom and Dad take a shower.
  • Found the toilet paper!
  • Have made it necessary to safety proof everything (toilet locks, plug covers, cabinet locks, etc.)
  • Love to be around other kids.
  • Think it is fun to try and stand in the bathtub and shake your head at us when we tell you "no thank you, we sit in the tub"

When I picked you up from day-care today, you projectile PUKED - ALL over everything! Your teacher, the floor, yourself, the bouncy seat,ME..... not pretty. And then on the way home, you puked again, 2 blocks from home, all over yourself again and the carseat. You weren't interested in food for dinner but drank a small bottle and went right to sleep. Hopefully just a little upset stomach.

Thank you for adding so much excitement to our lives. It brings the biggest smile to our faces to see you growing and learning new things. Happy 11 months.
